An international programe
in epidemiology and public health

The Master of Epidemiology (MEPI) at the University of Antwerp is an international postgraduate programme that trains epidemiologists capable of addressing complex public health challenges in a globalized world.

The programme combines:

  • quantitative and qualitative research methods,
  • epidemiological analysis,
  • public health perspectives,
  • and hands-on learning experiences.

Supported through the VLIRUOS ICP Connect programme, MEPI brings together students and professionals from diverse academic, cultural, and professional backgrounds, with a strong focus on:

  • capacity strengthening,
  • international collaboration,
  • and societal impact worldwide.

A growing
international network

Over the years, the programme has progressively expanded its international network through partnerships with universities, governmental institutions, and research centres in countries such as Tanzania, Peru, and Vietnam.

MEPI students and alumni actively contribute to:

  • public health research,
  • surveillance systems,
  • policy development,
  • implementation research,
  • and capacity strengthening initiatives worldwide.

Learning through
collaboration and field experience

The programme promotes experiential and intercultural learning through:

  • international workshops,
  • alumni activities,
  • field schools,
  • and collaborations with institutions in low- and middle-income countries.

Recent flagship activities included:

  • the Field School of Infectious Diseases and Public Health in the Peruvian Amazon,
  • the Hanoi Workshop on Qualitative Research and Citizen Science,
  • and the annual ICP North Workshop jointly organized with UHasselt.
